Wondering when the Blessing of the Bicycles will be for this year. I told my daughter about your event after reading an article in The Lutheran featuring your church. She's been asking when her tricycle can "have its cross put on" - like she asks for herself after seeing a baptism at our church. Would love to bring her to this so she can see different types of churches in action.
Thanks.

Happy to hear of this for you! Like most pastors, I need to hear this message over and over again. And add more waffles. Thanks for the reality check!

When come and die gets literal, its a different world than service through everyday vocation. I think back to my 20's when you never know if you might get blown to bits or jailed or live on to another day. I remember when a couple missionary peers died back then...

Its darn hard to rectify that type of service and sacrifice`with being a so called responsible adult some 20-30 years later.

I get the point you are making, and I think a point could might be made that we may have been living too dangerously for Christ... Otoh I look to the early church fathers, the martyrs, the reformers... or even the Coptic Christians in Egypt today, and service through everyday vocation becomes a whole lot less believable. In my mind, I know its a matter of difference in callings, in my heart it is another story.
